Blazers Assign Two Rookies to Rip City for Their Season Opener

Rookies Forward Kris Murray and guard/forward Rayan Rupert from the Trail Blazers have been designated to the Rip City Remix before their upcoming season opener, the team announced.

Murray, chosen from Iowa as the 23rd pick in June’s NBA Draft, has seen action in three games this season, accumulating a total of 20 minutes without notching a point.

He’s managed a steal, a block, and a rebound. On the other hand, Rupert, picked at 43rd after a stint with the New Zealand Breakers, has played a mere three minutes in two games for the Blazers, not registering any stats.

Duop Reath, under a two-way contract with the Blazers, is already with the Remix and is likely to receive playing time with the new squad.

The South Bay Lakers will host the Rip City Remix for their season opener, with the excitement tipping off at 7:00 PM.

Regarding the assignment rationale: Since they hold standard NBA contracts, the team can assign and recall them at will.

Throughout the season, you can expect to see them shuttle between practicing with the Blazers and gaining game experience with the Remix.

This aligns with the team’s initiative to have a G League presence in the city, as Sean Highkin of rosegardenreports notes.
