Having recently joined the Portland squad in late October, Wainright was poised to confront his former team, the Suns, in the upcoming week.
Wainright, accompanied by former Suns players Deandre Ayton and Toumani Camara, has had limited involvement in two games for Portland, with an average of 2.5 minutes per game.
His absence opens the door for Kris Murray, now affiliated with the Rip City Remix, to potentially see an uptick in playing time on the active roster.
