The Portland Trail Blazers have made changes to their roster, and they officially announced on Monday that they’ve sent guard/forward Rayan Rupert and forward Ish Wainright to their G League affiliate, the Rip City Remix.
Ish Wainright, a 6-foot-5 forward, missed the first eight games of the season due to a right calf strain. He was cleared to make his debut against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night but didn’t find a spot in the lineup.
This move by the Blazers is a strategic maneuver to prepare him for upcoming games in the league since he’s been sidelined for an extended period.
Wainright was signed by the Trail Blazers in October after being waived by the Phoenix Suns. This marks his third NBA season. In 60 games with the Suns last season, he averaged 4.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game.
Regarding Rupert, he was initially sent to the G League’s Rip City Remix and subsequently recalled on Saturday. Today marks the second occasion this season that he has been dispatched to the Remix to his performance and readiness.
In his G League debut on Friday, Rupert had an impressive performance, scoring 11 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, dishing out three assists, and making one steal in 30 minutes during a 133-105 victory over the South Bay Lakers.
