Blazers Urged to Pursue Raptors’ Bruce Brown, Who Is Expected to Be Traded Next Month

The Portland Trail Blazers had a tough season, ending with just 21 wins. Their hopes were pinned on the draft, but they only secured the seventh pick in the NBA draft lottery.

Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey is suggesting that the Blazers make a move for Raptors’ Bruce Brown, who is expected to be traded next month.

Andy proposed a trade where:

Blazers would send Jerami Grant to Toronto in exchange for Bruce Brown, a 2028 First-Round Pick Swap, and a 2027 Second-Round Pick.

This trade would benefit the Blazers more than the Raptors. For Portland, the main motivation behind this trade is to shed Grant’s $160m contract.

Grant’s signing didn’t align with the Blazers’ rebuilding direction, especially after picking Scoot Henderson.

Despite Grant’s contributions, the Blazers only won 21 regular season games and dropped to the seventh pick in the NBA Draft Lottery, potentially missing out on better picks due to Grant’s performance.

This trade would give the Blazers flexibility to develop younger talent and clear cap space, while acquiring NBA Champion Bruce Brown adds value. Brown’s expiring contract and potential for further asset acquisition through trades make him an attractive addition.

The Portland Blazers are reevaluating their roster and contracts to align with their rebuilding plans. This proposed trade offers them the opportunity to focus on developing young talent and exploring trade options.

This season, Brown scored an average of 10.8 points per game. He also grabbed 4.2 rebounds, dished out 2.9 assists, and made 0.9 steals per game. He shot 48% from the field, 32% from three-point range, and 82% from the free-throw line in 34 games, including 11 starts.
