Smith had initially agreed to an Exhibit 10 contract with the team in June, which was a minimum-level deal guaranteeing him a place in both the training camp and the NBA Summer League. However, the latest information indicates that he has been waived by the team.
Smith did not get drafted in the 2023 NBA Draft after he announced on May 31 that he would not be returning to Gonzaga. The 6-foot-4 guard participated in two Summer League games with the Trail Blazers.
Away from Smith, the Trail Blazers have officially inked a contract with George Conditt, a former Iowa State center. This development was reported by Keith Smith of Spotrac.

Conditt had signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Blazers back in September. While the specific terms of the current deal have not yet been disclosed, it’s likely to be a two-way contract.
Conditt spent four years at Iowa State, with career averages of 4.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game, all while playing for 14.4 minutes per game. He participated in a total of 117 games with the Cyclones.
During FIBA play this year, Conditt showcased his skills, averaging 11.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in 34.5 minutes per game in two appearances for Puerto Rico.
Iowa State is the Cyclones, not the Hawkeyes…
