Free agent center James Banks III has signed an exhibit 10 contract with the Boston Celtics, reports Keith Smith of Spotrac.
He has entered into an Exhibit 10 contract, as confirmed by Keith Smith. Banks will eventually be assigned to the Celtics’ G League affiliate in Maine, following a trade that secured his returning player rights.
Under the terms of the Exhibit 10 contract, Banks has the potential to earn a bonus of up to $75,000 if he completes a minimum of 60 days with the Maine team.
Banks, aged 25, has spent the past two years in the G League, playing for the Birmingham Squadron and the Texas Legends.
In the previous season, he posted averages of 5.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks in nine regular season games with the Texas Legends.
With Banks’ addition, the Celtics now have a preseason roster comprising 19 players, 2 shy of the maximum.
