Charges Dropped Against Thunder’s Josh Giddey Due to Insufficient Evidence in Underage Relationship Investigation

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey will not be charged following a police inquiry into potential misconduct with an underage girl, according to TMZ Sports.

The Newport Beach PD confirmed the closure of the case initiated in November, citing a lack of supporting evidence.

Essentially, the investigation concluded as there was a reluctance among those involved to provide information, leaving 21-year-old Giddey without legal repercussions.

Earlier, during Thanksgiving weekend, serious accusations circulated on social media, featuring photos and videos allegedly depicting Giddey interacting with a girl believed to be a high school junior at the time.

Despite the NBA initially examining the claims, Commissioner Adam Silver deferred to law enforcement once Newport PD intervened.

Sources revealed that the minor and her family refused to collaborate with investigators, presenting a significant obstacle.

Additionally, the minor enlisted the services of prominent attorney Gloria Allred. Throughout the inquiry, Giddey, who has not publicly addressed the allegations, continued to play for the Thunder and faced criticism from opposing fans.

Josh Giddey is putting up solid numbers for the Oklahoma City Thunder this season, averaging 11.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists, with a 45.5% success rate in field goals during his around 29.9 minutes per game.

The Thunder, who have been performing exceptionally well, are set to host the Utah Jazz in their next game. After facing back-to-back losses on the road against the Clippers and Lakers, the team is eager to bounce back and resume their winning streak.
