Chris Finch Feared to Have Suffered Torn Patellar Tendon

Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch is feared to have suffered a torn patellar tendon in his knee during a late-game collision in their Game 4 win against Phoenix, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The Timberwolves had an opportunity to eliminate the Phoenix Suns on Sunday and they did to complete a 4-0 sweep, but the focus shifted to the condition of head coach Chris Finch.

Finch was injured in a collision with Timberwolves guard Mike Conley late in the fourth quarter, following a foul by Devin Booker on Conley.

The coach fell to the floor and showed signs of distress. Trainers attended to Finch while the entire Timberwolves team gathered around him. Eventually, he had to be assisted off the court, struggling to walk.

Finch, 54, is in his fourth season as head coach in Minnesota. The Timberwolves, under his leadership, secured the third seed in the West with a 56-26 record, their best performance during Finch’s tenure.
