Donovan Mitchell Wants Cavs to Keep Jarrett Allen

Jarrett Allen has been the subject of trade talks this summer, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are hesitant to move him. One key reason for their reluctance is the strong endorsement from star guard Donovan Mitchell, who values Allen as a teammate, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

It appears likely that Allen will continue alongside Evan Mobley, despite occasional challenges in their playing styles. Sources close to Stein also indicate that Borrego is the frontrunner to replace J.B. Bickerstaff as head coach.

Cleveland plans to offer Mitchell a maximum four-year contract extension at the earliest opportunity this offseason. Discussions around this extension may also touch on the team’s long-term roster strategy, including Allen’s role moving forward.

Mitchell averaged 26.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists this season, shooting 46.2% from the field, 36.8% from three-point range, and 86.5% from the free-throw line, making him one of the top scorers in the NBA.
