GG Jackson, the number one player in the 2023 class, has announced on Saturday, July 23, that he will reclassify to 2022. This, according to him, will enable him to enroll at South Carolina for the upcoming 2022-2023 NBA season.
GG Jackson made the announcement in a tweet which has since been retweet for more than 2500 times.
Initially, the 5-star power forward was committed to North Carolina. However, he de-committed on July 14, 2022 after rumors of the possibility of this event went viral.
It is widely reported that GG Jackson took the decision after people close to him had convinced him to stay home. This he did by re-classifying.
GG Jackson’s recruitment journey was visibly wild. However, it has now ended in a victory for Lamont Paris and his coaching staff. They will now start their tenure in Columbia.
The young NBA star is the highest ranked recruit in the basketball history of South Carolina. He became the sixth prospect since the 2020 recruiting class, to be ranked No. 1.
However, GG Jackson would be joining the likes of Jonathan Kuminga, Emoni Bates, and Shaedon Sharpe in South Carolina.
I will like to announce that I will be reclassifying to the class of 2022, committing to the University of South Carolina to further my career and education. NOW LETS HAVE FUN FAMS!🤙🏾🐔 #HometownHero
