Grizzlies Extend Rookie Scale Contracts for Ziaire Williams and Three Others

The Memphis Grizzlies have officially exercised their option to extend the rookie scale contracts for Ziaire Williams, Santi Aldama, Jake LaRavia, and David Roddy into the 2024-25 season, as stated in the team’s official announcement.

Following this extension, Ziaire Williams, the 10th overall pick in the 2021 draft, and Santi Aldama, who was chosen as the 30th pick in the same draft, will become eligible for rookie scale extensions in 2024.

Williams is set to earn $6,133,005 in the upcoming season, while Aldama’s salary will be $3,960,531.

During the 2023 preseason, Ziaire Williams had an impressive performance, averaging 12.4 points and 3.6 rebounds.

Aldama, 22, has participated in 109 games with 20 starts since being selected as the 30th overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2021 NBA Draft, following his junior year at Loyola Maryland.

In the previous season, he achieved personal bests, with an average of 9.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 77 games.

Jake LaRavia, a 21-year-old forward from California, made appearances in 35 games as a rookie last season, averaging 3.0 points and 1.8 rebounds in 11.8 minutes.

The Grizzlies acquired him as the 19th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft after his junior year at Wake Forest, where he received recognition on the 2021-22 All-ACC Second Team.

David Roddy, 22, played in 70 games, including four starts, during his rookie season. He averaged 6.7 points and 2.8 rebounds in 18.0 minutes.

The Grizzlies selected him as the 23rd overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft following his junior year at Colorado State, where he held the title of the 2021-22 Mountain West Player of the Year.
