The Memphis Grizzlies have welcomed Jason Preston and Timmy Allen to their team, while parting ways with Matthew Hurt and Mychal Mulder, as officially announced by the team.
Preston, a 24-year-old point guard, was waived by the Clippers earlier this month just before his $1.8 million salary was set to be fully guaranteed.
He featured in 14 matches for the L.A. team last season and predominantly played in the G League.
Allen, a newcomer as a forward, showcased his skills for the Grizzlies’ Summer League squad after going undrafted from Texas.
This 23-year-old athlete maintained an average of 10.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game during his time with the Longhorns last year.
At present, Memphis already has 15 players with assured contracts, leaving Preston and Allen with minimal chances of securing a spot on the roster.
Nonetheless, they have the option to sign Exhibit 10 agreements, which could allow them to earn a bonus of up to $75,000 if they are waived and spend a maximum of 60 days with the Memphis Hustle, the G League affiliate of the organization.
In contrast, Hurt and Mulder, who joined the Grizzlies just two weeks ago, had limited participation in the preseason.
Hurt, a 23-year-old forward, took the court in two games, contributing three points, three rebounds, and an assist.
Mulder, a 29-year-old guard, managed to score three points and secure two rebounds in two games. These transactions bring Memphis to the offseason roster limit of 21 players.
