The Indianapolis Colts have officially sidelined cornerback JuJu Brents (quad) and tackle Braden Smith (hip/wrist) from the lineup for their Week 9 matchup against the Carolina Panthers, as declared by their head coach, Shane Steichen, on Friday.

Brents sustained a quadriceps injury during the Colts’ Week 7 defeat to the Cleveland Browns and remained absent during their Week 8 game against the New Orleans Saints.

The 2023 second-round draft pick did not partake in practice sessions throughout this week.Smith, who has been absent for the Colts’ last three matches, has been ruled out as well.

On a positive note, tight end Kylen Granson has successfully passed through the concussion protocol and is set to participate in Sunday’s game.

Meanwhile, linebacker Zaire Franklin, dealing with a knee issue and having missed practice this week, hasn’t been officially ruled out as of Friday.

For the Colts’ definitive practice report of the week, including game status updates, we’ll need to wait until later in the day.
