Chicago Bulls’ Justin Lewis injured his knee when he was in a workout action. The information has been revealed by NBC Sports Chicago’s K.C. Johnson on Thursday, August 11.
Multiple sources who spoke to Johnson indicated that the basketball player may have suffered ACL injury. ACL is the short form of Anterior Cruciate Ligament which is a is tissue that connects the thighbone to the shinbone, at the knee. The 20-year old Lewis only joined the Bulls recently in a two-way contract. This was after he went undrafted in the recent 2022 NBA draft. In his summer league debut for the Bulls; Lewis scored eight points and five rebounds in a 100–99 win against the Dallas Mavericks. His injury however, draws speculations as to whether he will feature in next games.

Since the incident occurred, no much details have been released. The athlete’s agent has so far made no official comments on the injury.

However, five days after Lewis injury, his new team, the Bulls, have issued a statement with regards to the player. In the statement, the Bulls said they have ruled out Lewis indefinitely. The team also added that the player will undergo surgery in coming weeks.
“…Justin Lewis sustained an injury to his right anterior cruciate ligament this past weekend. He will undergo surgery in the coming weeks and is out indefinitely,” the bulls tweeted Tuesday, August 16, 2022.
