Dallas Mavericks star, Luka Dončić has been appointed as the captain of the Slovenian national team for the first time, ahead of the FIBA World Cup 2023.
Dončić expressed his improved physical condition, attributing it to the diligent efforts of the fitness coach. “I feel better this year, it can be seen, the fitness coach pushed me well, he deserves praise.”

The upcoming FIBA World Cup, scheduled from August 25th to September 10th, will see Doncic leading Slovenia in Group F, alongside Cape Verde, Georgia, and Venezuela.
In the 2022/23 NBA season, Luka Dončić’s remarkable performance for the Dallas Mavericks included averaging 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.0 assists in 66 games.
As he prepares for the FIBA World Cup, Dončić aims to replicate these impressive statistics to enhance Slovenia’s prospects of advancing from the group stage and making a significant impact in the tournament.
