Pacers, Tristen Newton Agree to Two Way Deal

The Indiana Pacers have signed Tristen Newton, their second-round draft pick, to a two-way contract.

He will join Quenton Jackson, who was re-signed yesterday, as the team’s two-way players, according to Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files.

Newton, who played a key role for UConn’s national championship team, participated in five Summer League games in Las Vegas. During these games, he averaged 9.0 points, 4.6 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 21.6 minutes per game.

At 23 years old, Newton started all 40 games for the Huskies last season, averaging 15.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. He was selected 49th overall in the draft.

Newton was one of four UConn starters drafted this year and will add depth to Indiana’s backcourt. With Jackson and Newton on two-way contracts, the Pacers still have one more two-way spot available.
