An NBA icon has made a triumphant return to the vibrant city of Charlotte. Following the inaugural day of training camp, the esteemed head coach of the Charlotte Hornets, Steve Clifford, disclosed to the media that Patrick Ewing has once again become part of the organization, assuming the role of a coaching advisor.
Ewing previously served as an assistant coach under Clifford in Charlotte from 2013 to 2017 before accepting the position of head coach at Georgetown University.
Over six seasons at the helm of the Hoyas, Ewing managed a record of 75 victories and 109 defeats.
During the 2020-2021 season, Ewing guided Georgetown to a remarkable Big East Championship victory and secured an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament, despite the team only clinching 13 wins.
This basketball Hall of Famer boasts an impressive legacy, having been selected as an All-Star a remarkable 11 times and a distinguished member of the All-NBA team on seven occasions.
Ewing made occasional appearances last season during Clifford’s initial season back in Charlotte.
