The New Orleans Pelicans have filled their two-way contract spots by claiming Trey Jemison off waivers, according to Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype.
Jemison was on a two-way contract with Memphis before being waived on Wednesday to make room for Jay Huff. He signed a 10-day contract with the Grizzlies in January and then agreed to a two-year, two-way deal after that contract expired.
He played regularly towards the end of the season on a Memphis team plagued by injuries, averaging 7.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game in 23 games (24.9 minutes per game).
Following the free agent loss of Jonas Valančiūnas, the Pelicans have been actively adding other options this summer.
They signed free agents Daniel Theis and Karlo Matković and drafted Yves Missi. Jemison provides them with yet another option at center.
Jemison is no stranger to New Orleans, having played for the Pelicans’ G League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron, last season where he averaged 13.6 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in nine games.
Alongside Jemison, who completes the team’s two-way spots, the Pelicans have two other players—Malcolm Hill and Jamal Cain—signed to two-way deals.
