Potential Trade Buzz: Miami Eyes Chicago Bulls’ Alex Caruso

It’s hardly a surprise that Miami has cast their gaze upon the Chicago Bulls’ Alex Caruso, considering that nearly all NBA teams are closely monitoring the Bulls’ camp for updates on their star players.

The Miami Heat successfully turned around their initial 1-4 record in the 2023-24 regular season, securing victory in their last five games, including a recent triumph over the San Antonio Spurs.

However, an Eastern Conference executive believes that the team is in dire need of a guard and is actively exploring the possibility of a trade for the defensive stalwart, Alex Caruso, from the Chicago Bulls.

The Eastern Conference executive remarked, ,” the Eastern Conference executive told Heavy Sports. “They’re not out there beating the bushes for a trade or anything, that is not how they operate. They’re going to say they like Josh [Richardson] and they like Dru Smith, and all of that. But they’ve got to be concerned and if the Bulls let it be known that Alex Caruso can be traded, they’d have to be the first in line. He is an Erik Spoelstra kind of guy all the way. They have an eye on him, for sure. We all do.”

Alex Caruso has long been regarded as one of the NBA’s premier perimeter defenders. He is now in his third season with the Bulls after spending his first four pro seasons with the illustrious Los Angeles Lakers.

An unnamed NBA executive speculated earlier this month that the Lakers could be considering a reunion with Caruso.

In his nine games with the Bulls this season, Caruso has been contributing with an average of 7.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, while maintaining impressive shooting percentages of 59.1% from the field, 44.0% from beyond the 3-point line, and 63.6% from the free-throw line.

While Caruso’s statistics may not immediately grab your attention, he possesses a unique skill set that extends beyond the traditional stat sheet, making significant contributions on both ends of the court.

Should the Bulls make Caruso available for trade before the trade deadline, Miami would be wise to seize the opportunity to acquire him, as he has consistently proven himself as a versatile, winning player who impacts every facet of the game for his team.
