Rumors: Blake Griffin Could Continue with Boston Celtics for Another Season

Blake Griffin might consider playing another season with the Boston Celtics, even though his family is mostly on the west coast.

Despite the Celtics’ active offseason, they have two vacant roster spots. Due to their financial commitments to Jaylen Brown’s extension, they might need to find cost-effective options before the summer concludes.

Blake Griffin, a six-time All-Star, is a strong contender to take up one of the vacant spots in Boston’s roster. Despite being 34 years old, Griffin might consider returning on an affordable contract.

Celtics CLNS reporter Bobby Manning revealed that Griffin hasn’t dismissed the idea of another season in Boston, even though he’s far from his family on the west coast.

While Griffin may not be in his prime, he could contribute as a veteran presence and step into a leadership role to fill the void left by former Celtics point guard Marcus Smart.

Griffin can provide valuable contributions in terms of defense and rebounding as a bench player. Despite playing just 13.9 minutes per game last season, he managed to average 4.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.

While these stats might not be extraordinary, Griffin’s experience makes him capable of filling in when Boston needs an extra player. Although he might not reach his previous peak performance, he could still enhance the bench strength at an affordable cost.

Finally, Griffin has a reputation as one of the top charge-takers in the NBA. With the departure of players like Smart and forward Grant Williams, the Celtics have a gap to fill in terms of tenacity and effort.

While Griffin might not be a central figure on the roster, his presence would undoubtedly infuse more resilience into the team.
