The San Antonio Spurs have completed their preseason roster by signing free agent wing Paul Watson and guard Erik Stevenson, as reported by Keith Smith from Spotrac. Both players have secured non-guaranteed training camp contracts.
Paul Watson, aged 28, experienced a brief stint in Germany after going undrafted following his time at Fresno State in 2017.
He has since moved between the NBA and the G League. Standing at 6’6″ and having the potential for three-point shooting and defensive contributions, Watson appeared in a total of 46 NBA games for the Hawks, Raptors, and Thunder from 2020 to 2022.
Additionally, he participated in 142 regular season and Showcase Cup games in the NBA G League, representing the Westchester Knicks, Raptors 905, and Oklahoma City Blue from 2017 to 2022.
Erik Stevenson, on the other hand, went undrafted earlier this year after playing five college seasons at four different schools.
In his super-senior year at West Virginia during the 2022/23 season, he posted averages of 15.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists across 34 games.
It’s highly likely that both Watson and Stevenson have inked Exhibit 10 contracts, allowing them to earn bonuses of up to $75,000 if they are waived by the San Antonio Spurs and then spend a minimum of 60 days with the Spurs’ G League affiliate in Austin.
As a result of these signings, the San Antonio Spurs now possess a complete preseason roster consisting of 21 players.
