Timberwolves Secure Rising Star Tyrese Martin in One-Year Deal

In an exclusive report by Shams Charania, it has been disclosed that the Minnesota Timberwolves have secured the services of Tyrese Martin, the 51st pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

Tyrese Martin, who has just concluded his rookie campaign in the NBA, showcased his skills in 16 regular season appearances with the Atlanta Hawks.

Despite his limited playing time, the 24-year-old managed to contribute an average of 1.3 points per game, displaying a shooting accuracy of 39.1% from the field.

Following his release by the Hawks during the summer, Martin entered the realm of free agency.

However, exciting news emerged today when Shams Charania reported that Tyrese Martin had inked a one-year contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

According to Charania’s tweet, “The Minnesota Timberwolves are signing former Hawks G/F Tyrese Martin to a one-year deal, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Martin will compete for a regular-season spot in T’Wolves training camp.”

Before his NBA journey, Tyrese Martin honed his skills during four seasons of collegiate basketball, splitting his time between Rhode Island and UConn.

His senior year proved to be particularly impressive, as he averaged 13.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while boasting a 44.9% field goal percentage and an impressive 43.0% success rate from beyond the three-point arc across 29 games.

His standout performances culminated in his selection as the 51st pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

In addition to his NBA experience, Martin also showcased his talents in the G League, where he played for the College Park Skyhawks.

Over 23 regular season games, he displayed remarkable versatility, averaging 18.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per contest. His shooting prowess was on full display with a field goal percentage of 50.3%, accompanied by a three-point shooting percentage of 36.6%.

It’s worth noting that he also participated in seven Showcase Cup games during his G League tenure.

Shifting focus to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team is emerging from a season where they clinched the eighth seed in the highly competitive Western Conference, finishing with a commendable 42-40 record.

Unfortunately, their playoff journey was cut short as they succumbed to the Denver Nuggets in the first round.

With the addition of Tyrese Martin, the Timberwolves are undoubtedly bolstering their roster as they aim to make a deeper impact in the upcoming NBA season.

Fans of the team eagerly anticipate Martin’s contributions as they embark on another exciting basketball journey in the dynamic Western Conference.
