Wainwright Cleared for Blazer’s Debut vs Lakers

Portland Trail Blazers’ Ish Wainright, previously hampered by a calf injury, is now cleared to participate in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers, according to the team’s official announcement.

After dealing with a right calf strain, Wainright is poised to make his season debut in the 2023-24 campaign.

During the offseason, the Trail Blazers secured Wainright through the waiver wire, following his departure from the Phoenix Suns.

Despite receiving interest from various teams after parting ways with the Suns, he ultimately chose Portland, a team seeking additional frontcourt depth, particularly alongside Deandre Ayton and Jerami Grant.

In the 2022-23 season, Wainright maintained an average of 4.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game, typically spending around 15.3 minutes on the court in 60 games with the Suns.
