Sources : Paul George Expected to Re-Sign with Clippers Despite 76ers’ Interest

Los Angeles Clippers star, Paul George, is currently not preoccupied with thoughts of the offseason, but talks about his future persist.

He has the option to explore free agency for the upcoming season, although there are reports suggesting he’s leaning towards staying with the Clippers in Los Angeles.

Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report highlighted the possibility of George continuing with Los Angeles despite interest from the 76ers in his recent report.

“That could change in July when the Philadelphia 76ers project to have a massive cache of cap room….While it’s believed to be earmarked for Paul George, multiple NBA sources expect George to re-sign with the L.A. Clippers. With a weak free-agent market, Andrew Wiggins may be the best available wing for Philadelphia.” Eric Pincus wrote.

Amidst the excitement of the playoffs, George and the Clippers are fully focused on their first-round tie against the Dallas Mavericks. The series is tied at 1-1 after two games in Los Angeles, with the Mavericks having the advantage as the action moves to Dallas.

Despite having a star-studded lineup that includes George, Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook, the Clippers are aiming for more than just having a talented roster this postseason.

George has been with the Clippers for five seasons now, and in the 2023-24 regular season, he made significant contributions, averaging 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game with impressive shooting percentages.

Although George hasn’t led the Clippers to the NBA Finals during his time with the team, there’s potential for a breakthrough this season as they gear up for a playoff run.

Their main goal is to overcome the Mavericks, with crucial games scheduled in Dallas. Winning at least one game on the road is crucial to regain home-court advantage.

Despite George’s numerous career achievements, including nine All-Star selections, six All-NBA honors, and four All-Defensive team recognitions, he’s yet to secure an NBA championship.
