Trail Blazers to Part Ways with Assistant Coaches, Brooks and Billups

The Portland Trail Blazers have decided not to extend the contracts of assistant coaches Scott Brooks and Rodney Billups, as per The Oregonian.

This decision follows Steve Hetzel’s departure from the Blazers on April 22 to join the coaching staff of the Brooklyn Nets after three seasons with the team.

Brooks served as the top assistant under coach Chauncey Billups for three seasons, while Rodney Billups, Chauncey Billups’ younger brother, focused on player development and defense. The Blazers look forward to filling the void of these vacant spots soon.

While changes are coming to the teams’ bench, the Blazers also confirmed that Chauncey Billups will be back for his fourth season as head coach. Billups is heading into the final guaranteed year of his contract, with Portland having the option to extend it for the fifth and last year in 2025-26.
